How to make them

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C or gas mark 4, and line a 12-hole muffin tin with cupcake cases.
  2. Put the butter in a mixing bowl and soften it with a wooden spoon.
  3. Add the rest of the cupcake ingredients to the butter and beat them together until they’re mixed through.
  4. Spoon the mixture into the cupcake cases so they’re two-thirds full.
  5. Put the muffin tin in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cakes are risen and golden.
  6. Let the cupcakes cool for 5 minutes in the tin, then place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. To make the buttercream, put the room-temperature butter in a mixing bowl and beat it until it’s soft. Add half of the icing sugar and beat it again.
  8. Add the vanilla extract and milk, then beat it again. It should be smooth and thick at this point.
  9. Put the finished buttercream in an icing piping bag with a large star-shaped nozzle. Pipe onto each cupcake in a swirl.
  10. Break your Mini Party Rings in half and add two different-coloured halves to the top of your cakes.
  11. Sprinkle edible glitter over the top, and serve.
